Why a Homebuilt Cockpit

Ever have a train set? Or build model airplanes? I look at the homebuilt cockpit as a modern take on those hobbies. The fun of the project is gathering information on the build and also making your cockpit as real as possible. Networking with those who also have cockpits help build a social network to further this hobby and meet people from all over the internet.

I always wanted to fly and I am fascinated by flight in general. When I book a flight I always try for a window seat, staring out in awe. A proper cockpit can trick your senses and make the whole flight simulator experience seem real. This was too much for me to ignore and hey it could lead into doing something really crazy like buying a ultralight.

Finally I am an field service technician by trade and work on various types of equipment. I have always been fascinated with engineering and I think this hobby can teach me how to engineer a complex system and develop some pretty cool fabrication skills.

The idea behind any hobby is to keep your mind sharp by using it and to have fun. I think the complexity of a homebuilt cockpit simulator should keep my mind occupied for awhile.
